Wellness Services in North Bay
Need a massage therapist? Physiotherapist? Chiropractor? Nutritionist? Naturopath? Aesthetician? We’ve got you covered. On-site or through a trusted referral, The Next Step connects you to the wellness professionals your body actually needs — all through one community.
Your Body Doesn’t Work in Silos. Your Wellness Shouldn’t Either.
You train at a gym. You see a massage therapist somewhere else. Your chiropractor is across town. Your physio doesn’t know what your trainer is programming. Your trainer doesn’t know what your physio said to avoid. Nobody’s talking to each other. And you’re the one trying to connect all the dots.
Sound familiar?
The Next Step Fitness Centre in North Bay is built differently. We’re not just a gym with equipment and a front desk. We’re a wellness network — a community of fitness professionals, registered health practitioners, and wellness providers who work together so you don’t have to coordinate everything yourself.
Some services are available on-site, right here at 1370 Regina St in North Bay’s west end. Others are through trusted referral partners we’ve built relationships with over 25 years serving the North Bay, Callander, and Nipissing region. Either way, you’re not Googling strangers. You’re getting connected to professionals we know and trust.

Why a Wellness Network Beats a List of Unconnected Providers
Your recovery is faster.
You save time.
Your results improve.
Insurance covers most of it.
The Wellness Services You Can Access Through The Next Step

Registered Massage Therapy (RMT)
Therapeutic massage for pain relief, injury recovery, stress reduction, and overall wellbeing. All massage therapists in our network are registered with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO) — the regulatory body that ensures education, competency, and accountability. RMT services are covered by most extended health benefit plans in Ontario.
Whether you need deep tissue work after a hard training week, rehabilitation massage alongside your physio program, or regular maintenance to keep your body moving well — we’ll connect you with the right therapist.
Physiotherapy
Post-surgical rehabilitation, injury recovery, chronic pain management, and mobility restoration. Our physiotherapy partners are registered with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario and work with us to ensure your gym programming and your rehab protocol are aligned — not working against each other.

Chiropractic Care
Spinal health, joint alignment, pain management, and nervous system function. Chiropractors in our network are registered with the College of Chiropractors of Ontario. Many of our members combine regular chiropractic adjustments with their training program — and the results compound when both professionals understand your goals.
Athletic Therapy
Injury assessment, rehabilitation, and return-to-sport programming. Athletic therapists specialize in musculoskeletal injuries and work closely with active adults who want to get back to training safely. This is especially relevant for members recovering from sports injuries or dealing with chronic joint issues.
Nutrition
Meal planning, dietary guidance, weight management, and performance nutrition. Proper nutrition is the foundation that makes everything else work — your training, your recovery, your energy levels. Our network includes professionals who can build an eating plan around your fitness goals, medical conditions, and real-world schedule.
Note: In Ontario, “Registered Dietitian” (RD) is the regulated health profession for nutrition advice. We recommend working with credentialed professionals for any medical dietary needs.
Naturopathy
Natural health assessment, herbal medicine, acupuncture, and preventive care. Naturopathic doctors in our network are registered with the College of Naturopaths of Ontario (CONO). They take a whole-body approach to health — which aligns perfectly with what we do on the fitness side.
Aesthetics
Skin care, treatments, and services that help you look as good as you feel. Wellness starts on the inside, but confidence shows on the outside. Our aesthetics referral partners throughout North Bay offer everything from therapeutic skin treatments to relaxation services.

Why We Built This — In Amanda’s Words
Amanda Hampel opened The Next Step Fitness Centre in 2001. She’d been training clients in North Bay for years before that, and she kept seeing the same pattern: members would train hard at the gym, then see a massage therapist who didn’t know their program. Or they’d finish physiotherapy and come back to the gym with no plan for what to do next. Nobody was talking to anybody.
“When I opened The Next Step, I wanted it to be more than just equipment and a schedule. I wanted it to be the place where all the pieces connect. Your trainer knows what your physio said. Your RMT knows what you trained this week. That’s not complicated — it just takes a gym that cares enough to build those relationships.”
— Amanda Hampel, Owner & Certified Exercise Physiologist (C-SEP), CanFitPro Certified
Amanda holds a Sports Conditioning Diploma and a Fitness & Health Promotion Diploma from Canadore College. She’s a Certified Exercise Physiologist through the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology (C-SEP) and a CanFitPro certified personal trainer. Over 25 years in North Bay, she’s built relationships with massage therapists, physiotherapists, chiropractors, naturopaths, and other wellness professionals across the city — not as a business arrangement, but because she genuinely believes fitness is only part of the picture.
That philosophy — that your gym should care about more than just your workout — is why The Next Step’s wellness network exists. It started with one trusted RMT. Now it connects members to seven categories of professionals throughout North Bay.
Who Uses Our Wellness Network?
This isn’t a separate program. It’s built into being part of The Next Step. But certain members get the most out of it:
Not a member yet? Wellness services are available to personal training clients and class attendees too.

Common Questions About Wellness Services at The Next Step
Do I need a membership to access wellness services?
Not necessarily. Wellness services are available to members, personal training clients, and class attendees. Some on-site services may be available to anyone. Ask us about current availability — we’ll point you in the right direction.
Which wellness services are on-site and which are referrals?
This varies as our network evolves. Some services like massage therapy may be available right here at 1370 Regina St. Others — like physiotherapy, chiropractic, and naturopathy — are through trusted referral partners in North Bay. Ask at the front desk or during your next session for the most current lineup.
Does insurance cover these services?
In most cases, yes. In Ontario, extended health benefit plans typically cover registered massage therapy (RMT), physiotherapy, chiropractic, and naturopathic services. Coverage varies by plan and provider. We recommend checking with your insurance company for your specific coverage, and we can help point you to practitioners who offer direct billing where available.
How is this different from just finding my own providers?
Two things: trust and coordination. We only refer to professionals we’ve worked with and whose approach aligns with ours. And when your wellness providers and your trainer communicate, your program works as a whole instead of disconnected parts. That coordination is the difference between scattered appointments and a real wellness plan.
Can my trainer coordinate with my RMT or physiotherapist?
Yes — and we encourage it. When your trainer knows what your RMT is working on, they can adjust your programming accordingly. When your physio shares your rehab protocol, your trainer builds gym sessions that support it. This is especially valuable for members using our Mobility & Rehabilitation program.
What does “registered” mean for massage therapists in Ontario?
In Ontario, massage therapists must be registered with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO) to practice. This means they’ve completed an accredited education program, passed registration exams, and are held to professional standards of practice and ethics. All RMTs in our network are CMTO-registered.
Do you have wellness services for seniors?
Absolutely. Many of our wellness referrals are specifically relevant to older adults — massage for pain management, physiotherapy for mobility, chiropractic for joint health, and nutrition for managing conditions like diabetes or osteoporosis. Paired with our Senior Fitness program, it’s a full picture approach to aging well.

Can I book wellness appointments outside of gym hours?
On-site services follow their own scheduling. Referral partners operate from their own locations with their own hours. Either way, your gym membership gives you 24/7 keycard access to train whenever works for you, and wellness appointments are booked separately based on provider availability.
