Facility Features
The Next Step Fitness Centre
A fully equipped gym with 24/7 keycard access, a dedicated class room, accessible change rooms, and the personal attention of a gym where the staff actually know your name. 1370 Regina St, North Bay.
Not the Biggest Gym in North Bay. The One That Actually Works.
We’re not trying to be the biggest gym in town. We don’t have a pool, a juice bar, or a rock-climbing wall. What we have is every piece of equipment you actually need to get stronger, move better, and stay healthy — in a facility that’s clean, accessible, and open whenever you want to use it.
The Next Step Fitness Centre at 1370 Regina St in North Bay’s west end is built for people who want to train — not people who want to tour a resort. The equipment is maintained. The change rooms are clean. The class room is a real room, not a roped-off corner. And when you walk in at 6 AM or 10 PM, the place works exactly the same way.
Here’s everything inside.

Open 24/7 — Train Whenever Your Life Allows
Every member receives a personal keycard that works 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Early morning before work. Lunch hour. Late at night after the kids are in bed. Weekends, holidays, whenever.
Your keycard is activated once your membership is set up. You don’t need to wait for staffed hours to train. You don’t need to adjust your schedule around someone else’s business hours. The gym is here when you need it.
Staff and trainers are available during regular business hours. Outside those hours, you have full access to all equipment, the gym floor, change rooms, and amenities.
This matters more than most people think. The number one reason people skip workouts is scheduling — they can’t make it work within a gym’s hours. At The Next Step, that excuse doesn’t exist.

Gym Equipment — Built for Every Type of Training
Full-Body Circuit Machines
Free Weights
Dumbbells, kettlebells, and barbells. Free weights recruit more stabilizer muscles than machines, build functional strength, and allow for a wider variety of exercises. Whether you’re doing dumbbell presses, kettlebell swings, barbell squats, or farmer carries, the weights are here and organized.
Squat Racks
Cardio Equipment
Mobility and Flexibility Tools
Plyometric and Agility Equipment
A Gym That’s Actually Built for Everyone

Fully Accessible Change Rooms
Our change rooms are designed with accessibility in mind. Clear pathways, appropriate spacing, and layouts that accommodate mobility aids and assistive devices. Every member should be able to use the change rooms comfortably, regardless of physical ability.
Universal Washroom
A separate, dedicated universal washroom is available for anyone who needs it. Whether you use a wheelchair, require more space, need privacy for medical reasons, or simply prefer a single-use washroom, it’s here. This isn’t an accommodation we added as an afterthought. It was part of the plan.
Equipment Accessibility
Our selectorized circuit machines are designed with guided movement paths and pin-select weight adjustments, making them accessible to members with varying physical abilities. Many exercises can be performed from a seated position, and our trainers are experienced in modifying programs to work with each member’s capabilities — not against them.
Accessibility isn’t a checkbox. It’s a value. Everyone who walks through the door at The Next Step deserves to feel like this gym was built for them — because it was.

A Dedicated Class Room — Not a Corner of the Gym Floor
A dedicated class room matters because it gives instructors full control of the space — music, layout, energy — without competing with the rest of the gym. It also means members training on the gym floor aren’t disrupted when a class is running.

Built by Amanda — Not a Franchise Blueprint
“You don’t need 200 machines. You need the right 50. I’d rather have equipment that’s maintained, that works for every fitness level, and that our trainers know inside and out. That’s more valuable than a gym floor that looks impressive in photos but doesn’t serve the person standing in front of it.”
— Amanda Hampel, Owner
That same philosophy extends to the change rooms, the accessibility features, the class room, and the 24/7 access. Every decision was made by someone who actually trains people every day — not by someone managing a spreadsheet in a head office.
What Members Say About Training Here
Common Questions About Our Facility
Is the gym really open 24/7?
Yes. Every member receives a personal keycard that works 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including weekends and holidays. Staff and trainers are available during regular business hours. Outside those hours, you have full access to all equipment, the gym floor, change rooms, and amenities.
What equipment do you have?
Full-body selectorized circuit machines, dumbbells, kettlebells, barbells, squat racks, cardio equipment (treadmills, ellipticals, bikes), mobility and flexibility tools (foam rollers, resistance bands, stretching mats), and plyometric/agility equipment (plyo boxes, agility ladders). Everything you need for strength, cardio, mobility, and athletic training.
Do you have a separate room for classes?
Yes. We have a dedicated class room that’s separate from the main gym floor. It’s used for scheduled group fitness classes, small group training, private activities, and room rentals. The class room has its own space and atmosphere — it’s not a section of the gym floor with a divider.
Is the facility accessible?
Yes. The Next Step has fully accessible change rooms, a universal washroom, and equipment that accommodates a range of physical abilities. Our selectorized circuit machines use guided movement paths and pin-select weight adjustments. Our trainers are experienced in adapting programs for members with different needs. Accessibility is a core part of how we designed this facility.
Are there showers and change rooms?
Yes. Our change rooms include showers, lockers, a vanity area, a get-ready station, a private changing area, coat racks, and clean washroom facilities. Many of our members come before or during work and need to get ready afterward — our change rooms are designed for that.
Is there parking?
Yes. Free parking is available at 1370 Regina St in North Bay’s west end. Easy access from Main Street and the Lakeshore Drive corridor. No downtown parking meters or paid lots.
Can I rent the class room for my own event or session?
Yes. The class room is available for private rentals. If you’re a personal trainer, group instructor, or organization looking for a professional fitness space in North Bay, contact us to discuss availability and rates.
How does the keycard system work?
When your membership is set up, you receive a personal keycard linked to your account. The keycard grants you 24/7 access to the facility. Tap your card at the door to enter anytime. Banking information is required to set up your membership and activate your keycard.
